ASII Welcomes Two New Board Members
Sr. Clarita Bourque, a native of New Orleans ( Algiers) accepted our invitation to our board this past November. A teacher, researcher, lobbyist and social activist, she has demonstrated a wealth of knowledge on New Orleans’ social assets and shortcomings, and a love for the community she calls her home, St Claude. From founding organizations like House of Ruth, Lindy’s Place and events like WOMANFEST, Sr Clarita shares the enthusiasm, will and call to social consciousness that ASII hopes to insight within the larger community. Please take the time to welcome this “Quiet Hero,” Sr Clarita!
Cassie J. Catalanotto was born and raised in the Upper Ninth Ward. Cassie attended Arden Cahill Academy and Louise S. McGehee high school in New Orleans, before receiving her BA from the Pratt Institute in New York City. Shortly after graduating, Cassie returned to New Orleans to work in the film industry (aka "Hollywood South"). A talented artist, Cassie frequently works in the art and set dressing departments on both independent and feature films. Today, she also spends time renovating her flooded Lakeview home. Cassie is dedicated to community development and social justice, and will be a wonderful asset to the ASII board.
